The Ellan Vannin Cycling Club (“the Club”) is a not-for-profit organisation established in the Isle of Man for social purposes and as such it controls and processes personal data.
However, where the Club collects any personal data such data is processed only for the purposes of:
establishing or maintaining membership or support of the Club; or
providing or administering activities for individuals who are Club members, or who have regular contact with the Club.
Accordingly, the Club is exempt from registration with the Isle of Man Information Commissioner (“Information Commissioner”).
Notwithstanding that the Club is exempt from registration with the Information Commission the Club is still obliged to comply with the eight data protection principles of good practice:
and is also obliged to respond in 21 days to a written request to provide the information that would have been included in the public Register of Controllers and Processors maintained by the Information Commissioner had the Club registered with the Information Commissioner.
