Monday 01 May 2017
The event consists a choice of 4 courses; 38Km, 72Km, 100km and 118Km, with all starting and finishing at the Ramsey Rugby Club in the Mooragh Park, Ramsey. The 32Km is a flat route around the Northern Plains and is suitable for all abilities. The 72, 100 & 118Km routes have 1, 2 & 3 major climbs respectively; Druidale, Slieau Whallian & the Sloc.
Manx Timing Solutions will be providing the event timing and each participant will carry an electronic ‘dibber’ which will be logged at the start, at checkpoints along the way and again at the finish. This will provide entrants with their times for each section and allow for comfort breaks & regroupings at each checkpoint. It also means that participants may choose which course they wish to complete on the day as the timing system will identify the course option ridden from the number of checkpoints the rider has dibbed at.
Participants may start anytime between 09:00 & 10:00, although slower riders for the longer distances are advised to go off as close to 09:00 as possible. Entry includes electronic timing, energy bar and a refreshment voucher for after the event. As this is not a race, there are no prizes, but any surplus generated by the event will be used to fund the Appleby Juvenile Circuit Champs held later in the year. All participants under the age of 18 must submit a consent form completed by their parent/guardian on the day of the event. Parental Consent forms are available for download from the British Cycling website. In terms of participation, the shortest route is suitable for all ages and the 72Km route for competent riders in 14-16 year age bracket. The 2 longer routes are not recommended for under-16’s. Riders under the age of 16 must also be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
